Located just a short boat trip from Tallinn, the island offers a completely different rhythm: peace, silence and closeness to nature that cannot be found in an urban environment. <\/p><p>Naissaar is a unique nature park, where extensive forests, coastal meadows and diverse wildlife form a coherent and distinctive natural landscape. This is complemented by the island\u2019s layered history and rich military heritage. <\/p><p>1940. In 1940, the inhabitants of Naissaar were forced to leave their homes, and the island was turned into a closed Soviet military base. For nearly 50 years, Naissaar was inaccessible to civilians and remained a classified site. Only in 1994 did people gain the opportunity to return to the island and gradually bring it back to life.<br>  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-79cc605 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"79cc605\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dbc1c93 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"dbc1c93\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a7e90f1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a7e90f1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Naissaar Military Museum<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c6b6b97 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c6b6b97\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Naissaar\u2019s military past has also shaped its natural environment. Despite its relatively small size, the island features both rare, <strong>untouched natural areas and landscapes<\/strong> clearly influenced by human activity. This contrast is what makes Naissaar\u2019s nature so distinctive and worth exploring.  <\/p><p>A small, close-knit community lives on the island year-round \u2013 around ten to twenty permanent residents for whom Naissaar is first and foremost home. During the summer months, the island becomes more lively with visitors, seasonal residents and events (link to events).
